Many people will be familiar with the work of
Cambridge Online. We are an educational charity based in
Cambridge, providing people with FREE access to computers
and the internet, as well as advice on using them. We
provide 20 community access points hosted by different
organisations around the City, usually in community centres,
where members of the public can come and use the computers
without charge.
We also run an award winning project which
enables people with any kind of disability to access
computers, and then pass on their skills to other people.
With only two members of permanent staff, volunteers are
involved in every aspect of running the organisation and we
rely heavily on the fantastic support they provide.
The exciting news is that we have been
awarded a Smarter Government grant to develop our network of community access points.
In partnership with UK online centres, we are able to provide everything required – computer
equipment, broadband connections, management advice,
training, and tutorial support for your users, volunteers
and staff.
We are looking for organisations (any sector)
that have existing premises in and around Cambridge which
would benefit from having a community access point to teach
computer skills to members of the public.
In addition, if your organisation already has
one of our access points and it needs development to
increase uptake, we can provide resources to help you do
that too.
If interested, please contact us as soon as
possible.
